Somewhere far beyond the world we know lies a place known only as The Mysterious Forest of Yoshi, where magical creatures called Yoshis are born. Yoshis come in many bright and varied colours, and their vision is colour-centric, so they prefer to eat and live amongst things of their own colour. However, they can live happily just about anywhere if well cared for.

I created this Yoshi adoption centre because, strangely enough, there don't seem to be any others out there (apart from the official Nintendo site, www.yoshisstory.com, which requires you to visit the site every day - something I and a lot of other people don't have time to do). There are hundreds of Adopt-A-Chocobo/Moogle/Pokémon sites out there, and just about everyone loves Yoshi, so why not an Adopt-A-Yoshi site? Now I know what you're thinking, what does this have to do with Seiken Densetsu? Well, nothing, but it is my website and I happen to like Yoshi, so here it is regardless. In the future I may put up some other Mario characters for adoption (tell me if there's any you'd particularly like to see), but for now it's just these little guys. Adopt the one that matches your page, or that best suits your personality, but don't leave without one!

      
Red Yoshi
Favourite food: Strawberries
The Red Yoshi likes warm places, and is particularly attracted to bright colours. This Yoshi can be very fiesty and hot-headed, but still makes a loyal companion, especially if you like battle and adventure.

      
Yellow Yoshi
Favourite food: Bananas
Yellow Yoshis love playing in the sun, and often climb to the tops of tall trees in search of bananas and other fruit. These Yoshis have a cheeky, fun-loving personality, and can never sit still for too long.

      
Green Yoshi
Favourite food: Watermelons
This Yoshi is a natural leader, remaining calm and optimistic in all situations, and has a courageous heart. It's said that all the Yoshis alive today are descended from one Green Yoshi.

      
Light Blue Yoshi
Favourite food: Blueberries
The Light Blue Yoshi is something of a daydreamer, and always seems to have its head in the clouds. These Yoshis love gazing at a clear blue sky, and get depressed when it rains.

      
Dark Blue Yoshi
Favourite food: Blackcurrants
Dark Blue Yoshis are nearly always strong swimmers, and can hold their breath underwater for longer than any other Yoshi. They like to live near water, and often collect trinkets that they find while diving.

      
Purple Yoshi
Favourite food: Grapes
The Purple Yoshi is usually rather shy, unlike most Yoshis, and prefers quiet, dark places. These Yoshis like poetry and music, and tend to be very intelligent. It's said that some are even psychic.

      
Pink Yoshi
Favourite food: Raspberries
Pink Yoshis are bouncy and playful, and above all like to party! They can seem rather dizzy at times, but they're always lots of fun and love to make new friends.

      
Brown Yoshi
Favourite food: Chocolate
Brown Yoshis are one of the rarest types of Yoshi, and are generally loyal and down-to-earth. Unlike many Yoshis, they prefer muted colours to bright ones, and love peace and nature.

These Yoshis just turned up in the forest one day, and not much is known about them...

All the Yoshis on this page are available for adoption. You can adopt as many Yoshis as you like, and any number of people can adopt a Yoshi of the same colour, so don't worry if someone's already adopted a Yoshi of the colour you want. You need a webpage to adopt a Yoshi, and it must comply with the following:

• No pornographic/hentai websites, or any sites that link to that sort of stuff. Your site doesn't have to be Disney-squeaky-clean, but no adults-only sites, please.
• Your site must have something on it. It doesn't need to be Seiken Densetsu, Yoshi or Nintendo related, but please, no "Sorry, there's nothing here right now but come back later" sites. If you haven't built your site yet, come back and adopt when you have; they'll still be here.

To adopt, right-click on the Yoshi you want and save it to your hard drive, then upload it to your webspace and put it wherever you want on your page. You must save a copy of the image; don't link to these graphics. Also, you must make a link back to this page so that other people who want to adopt a Yoshi know where to come. If you adopt, and I look at your page and you haven't linked here, I will cancel the adoption and ask you to take the Yoshi off your page. It's not much to ask, is it? You can link here in any way you like; you can make the Yoshi image itself into a link (remember to put border="0" in the img src tag so your Yoshi isn't surrounded by an unsightly border), put some text next to the image saying something like "I got this Yoshi from The Mysterious Forest of Yoshi" and make that text into a link, use the banner at the top of the page, or use this little graphic:

Yoshis, the Yoshi graphics, the "scroll" banner and the background of this page are all taken from the game Yoshi's Island, which is © Nintendo. The Mysterious Forest of Yoshi and Para-Yoshis are my creations, and the graphics on this page were made by me, so please don't take them unless you're adopting, and don't alter them in any way.
There are no Black or White Yoshis in Yoshi's Island, so please don't email me asking me how to find them in that game. I created the graphics for them based on the Black and White Yoshis in Yoshi's Story, and that is the only game in which they exist.
